IMDB rating: 7.70 Plot: This movie transplants the classic tale of “Romeo and Juliet” to New York City in the 1950s. The two feuding families are replaced by brawling street gangs. The Montagues become the Anglo Jets, led by Riff (Russ Tamblyn), and the Capulets become the Puerto Rican Sharks, led by Bernardo (George Chakiris). At a dance, Tony (Richard Beymer), former leader of the Jets and Riff’s best friend, and Maria (Natalie Wood), Bernardo’s little sister, see each other across the room and it’s love at first sight. With opposition from both sides, they meet secretly and their love grows deeper. However, the gangs are plotting one last rumble, a fight that will finally end the battle for control of the streets. Will Tony and Maria’s love carry through a battle that threatens to destroy the people they love around them? hi, im auditioning for west side story at my school, and my drama teacher wants us to prepare a 16 bar song from the 1950s not modern because how the new music sounds.
so like something from annie in that time period.

You really don’t have a clue what you are talking about, do you? ANNIE was written in 1977 and YOU want songs fromt he 1950’s.. Most of the songs from that time period are DULL and UNINSPIRING.. I would guess your teacher is just sick and tired of tweens and teens singing another song from WIDKED because they believe that it’s the only musical ever written. Here are so GREAT FEMSLE SOLOS but YOU will ahve to look up the dates on them to see if they are from the 1950/s because that is more work than I want to do for someone I don’t know, who is not a student of mine. ALSO, songs don’t come in 16 bar length.. it is UP TO THE PERFORMER to cut them down by COUNTING TO 16.
